Common questions

How long can I stay in Spain on a Schengen visa?
The Schengen visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This means you can spend a maximum of 90 days across all Schengen countries combined over a rolling 6-month window. You cannot circumvent this by leaving and immediately re-entering.
Can I visit other European countries with a Spain Schengen visa?
Yes! A Schengen visa issued by Spain grants you access to all 29 Schengen member states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
How long does it take to get a Spain Schengen visa from India?
Processing at the Spanish consulate takes 1–2 working days. However, the total timeline includes BLS transfer time (2–4 days outside Delhi/Mumbai) and return delivery. Realistically, expect 15 calendar days from submission. During peak seasons (summer and December), appointment availability may add to wait times.
What is the Spain Schengen visa approval rate for Indian citizens?
In 2024, Spain approved approximately 84% of Schengen visa applications from Indian citizens. Spain received about 97,000 applications from India, with around 15,000 rejections. This places Spain among the more favorable Schengen destinations for Indian applicants.
Where can I apply for a Spain Schengen visa in India?
You can apply at BLS International Visa Application Centres across India. The Embassy in New Delhi covers North India (including Delhi NCR, UP, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar), while the Consulate in Mumbai covers South and West India (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala). Apply based on where you have resided for the past 6 months.
How much money should I show in my bank account for a Spain Schengen visa?
While there is no fixed minimum, it is recommended to show at least €60 per day of your stay. For a 2-week trip, this would be approximately €840 (around ₹85,000). Your bank statements should show stable income and consistent balance over 3–6 months, not just a large last-minute deposit.
